Friction Proofing by WYNNS Professional is a diesel and petrol engine supplement that improves oxidation resistance, corrosion control, and engine cleanliness while reducing friction wherever metal-to-metal contact occurs.
Wynn's conducted a famous test in 1948 by treating an airplane engine with its Friction Proofing oil additive, draining the oil, and flying the plane for several minutes without any oil in the crankcase. This demonstration, which showed that the treated surfaces could withstand the engine's friction without conventional lubrication, was used to illustrate the product's effectiveness.

The vehicle: A Luscombe Silvaire airplane was used for the demonstration.
The treatment: The engine was first treated with Wynn's Friction Proofing oil additive.
The test: The engine oil was completely drained from the crankcase.
The flight: The airplane then took off and flew for seven minutes with no engine oil.
The principle: Wynn's explained that the additive penetrates the metal surfaces of moving parts, forming a protective film that provides lubrication.

Wynn's also holds a world record for driving a car 1,524 kilometers without oil (Darwin to Alice Springs NT Australia), a demonstration also intended to showcase the protection offered by its products. The company has a long history of conducting such "wonder fluid" promotions to demonstrate the benefits of its products.
Important considerations:
These dry-running tests were promotional stunts designed to create a unique identity for the Wynn's brand. They were not meant to suggest that vehicles could safely operate without oil for extended periods.
Modern engine oils and their additives are designed to work together to protect an engine, and running any vehicle with no oil would cause catastrophic damage!
